It gives me pleasure, in my capacity as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, in inviting you to take part in the 7th Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Physiological Societies (FAOPS), to be held from September 11 to 14, 2011, in the vibrant city of Taipei.

With the human genome deciphered during the last millennium, the first decade of this millennium saw shifting of biomedical research from identification of novel genes and proteins to delineation of novel functional phenotypes for these genes and proteins. By bridging molecules and functions, it is anticipated that physiology will again be in the scientific limelight come 2011. It is in this spirit that the theme of the 7th FAOPS Congress is “Physiology: the continuum of genes to functions”.

The Organizing Committee has already embarked on designing a program that is both scientifically rewarding and socially exciting. We wish to herald the accomplishment of prominent physiologists by featuring plenary lecturers and symposium speakers. Ample opportunities will also be provided for poster presentations to foster communications and interactions.
